In celebration of Burns Night, which honours the Scottish poet Robert Burns, a pioneer of the Romantic movement of poetry on which I wrote my BA English degree dissertation, AND the Rose Line that flows from Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland to The Glastonbury Gnostic Chapel here on the ancient Isle of Avalon, AND my own Scottish-Jewish bloodline, AND for all of you who are feeling the juiciness of this Venus sextile Jupiter transit (23 January), ushering in the prospect of new love or partnerships that are blessed with love, warmth, understanding, companionship, passion and romance, I give you:

🌹The Red, Red Rose🌹

O my Luve’s like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in june;
O my Luve’s like the melodie
That’s sweetly play’d in tune:

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry:

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.

Robert Burns (1794) – from an ancient Scottish poem sung to him by a peasant girl

Burns Night also coincides with the Chinese New Year and it’s the Year of the Rat – my sign! Us Rats bring qualities of wisdom, intelligence, success, wealth, optimism and expansive vision, which in my case are amplified by also being Sagittarius.

So this is a fabulous night to come together with loved ones, share poetry and songs around the fire, in honour also of Brigit, the Rose-Celtic Maiden Goddess of Imbolc, muse of the Druidic bards, and call in all the qualities of Rat to bless your dreams and visions for this coming year.

Blessed be to the Rose, the Rat and Robert Burns!
