Description

Stunning and unique Butterfly Maiden Hopi Kachina Doll by renowned Hopi carver Leander Tenakhongua from New Mexico. His Hopi name is ‘Qoyungnuptu’ which means ‘Break of Dawn’ and comes from the Sun clan.

In the Hopi Tradition, Butterfly Maiden is a kachina (spirit) who rules the springtime and the earth’s fertility, symbolising rebirth, transformation and freedom.

Annabel buys her Hopi Kachina statues directly from Leander on her buying trips to New Mexico.
