The Philosophia Wheel of the Year
Women are increasingly seeking to explore their spirituality, honour the natural cycles and reclaim the lost rituals of the Wisewoman.
As a therapist and priestess, I specialise in teaching women about the mythological cycle of the year, guiding them on a path of healing and empowerment using transpersonal techniques such as guided meditation, ritual and creative expression.
This article is the sixth in a series of eight exploring the different celebrations, myths and archetypes associated with the eight pagan festivals of the year, woven with stories from my life.
The Autumn Equinox
The Autumn Equinox occurs in the Northern Hemisphere between the 21st and 24th of September. This year, it falls on Sunday 23 September at 02.54 GMT. The word Equinox comes from the Latin word meaning ‘equal night’ as it is the point at which the hours of day and night are of equal length.
With the equinox energies of the balance of the light and dark, we celebrate the inner, alchemical union of our own feminine and masculine, the shadowy depths of our Anima with the fiery powers of our Animus.
As we start our preparation for the descent into the underworld at Samhain, we call in the harvest gifts of our Souls, reaped from all the challenges we have survived.
Wisewomen Warriors, we nurture our bodies and physical wellbeing, withdrawing and resting like Mama Bear, conserving our energies for the battle that lies ahead.
And in our cave of hibernation, we embrace the inner Hermit – that part of us that holds all the wisdom of the stars, if only we would remember to withdraw into the silence and listen.
At this Autumn Equinox, I’m sharing about the wisdom this time of year brings us:
And offering you a free drum journey into the magical Autumnal woodland to find your inner balance of darkness and light, work and play, busyness and rest.
This Autumn, I am holding a further 3 weekend workshops from ‘The Path of the Gnostic Goddess’ in Avalon, Glastonbury – working with Mother Mary (6-7 October), Lilith (3-4 November) and Sophia (1-2 December). “The Path of the Gnostic Goddess calls to my heart and soul. It is such a privilege to be able to receive Annabel’s profound wisdom, teaching and guidance which comes from a centre of pure love, held in a safe and nurturing environment. She has created such a sense of peace and serenity in a beautiful sacred space. To sit in circle with Annabel and the other women, sharing our life stories and supporting one another is an absolute honour. Thank you, Annabel, with love and gratitude, for the gift of the Gnostic Centre and Chapel and its teachings. It is just what I was wishing for and these workshops are such life-changing and transformative experiences.”
